Lambda Nu Sigma History

2011-2012
  • On October 8, 2011, the first Canadian chapter of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., Lambda Nu Sigma (LNS), was chartered by Sorors Racquel Shaw, Jeannine Hunte, Yamikani Msosa, Shannon Rosset and Tonya Rose.
  • Sorors Jonika Evelyn, Dacia Douhabi and Veronica Nnensa are inducted on April 13, 2012 ​​​

2012-2013
  • Soror Douhaibi wins the Laura J Hawkins Award and Northeast Region Doctoral Scholarship.

2014 - 2015
  • Sorors Chan-tell King Beckwith, Romunda Harris-Fonville and Danielle Wiggins join the LNS chapter.
2016-2017
  • Soror Krytsle Murry joins the LNS chapter.
2017-2018
  • Blandine Affricot* transfers to the graduate chapter  from Sigma Omega chapter. 
  • At the 57th Biennial Boule, Soror Nnensa wins the Dr. Katie Kinnard White Mwanamugimu Scholarship Award. ​​
2019-2020
  • Soror King Nguyễn, from Sigma Omega chapter, transfers to the graduate chapter.
2020-2021
  • Sorors Fatima Thioye and Alexandria Rouse are inducted into the chapter.
  • Sorors Sheila Greenwood joins the LNS chapter. 
2023-2024
  • Sorors Crystal Braboy and Zaria Fonville join the LNS chapter
2024-2025
  • Soror Denesha Snell joins the LNS chapter
  • Sorors Leslie Andino, Tasasha Henderson, Nicole Lindsay and Alena McQuarter are inducted into the chapter.

Present Day
Lambda Nu Sigma continues to grow and thrive! With the establishment of our undergrad chapter, our membership is based in and serves communities in Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Buffalo, Chicago, Loma Linda and New York.
