On March 23rd, Lambda Nu Sigma chapter held its first Youth Symposium with the theme of "It’s in the Bag – Healthy Choices, Healthy Living, Healthy Generations” (H3). The Symposium will feature workshops on H3 topics and career choices in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). “We are proud to hold our annual Youth Symposium. The goal is to make our youth more familiar with STEM topics which will be a driver for the future workforce. Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority knows that the youth are our future; we must prepare them so that they can lead the way,” said Bonita M. Herring, International President of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority.
Held at the West Scarborough Boys and Girls Club, this one day conference had youth, ages 13 – 17, discuss current issues and concerns that negatively impact Canadian youth such as drugs, teen violence, abuse, low self-esteem, suicide, and teen pregnancy. See our photo below
